Thankful Everyday 12-04-24
Today I give thanks for sea lions.
Big, awkward, loud, smelly – AND they huddle together in groups of up to 1,000 at Pier 39 in San Francisco!
Rent’s too high? Food costs going up? Here’s a place where the rent is free, there’s plentiful food, and one can snuggle up with friends and nap the day away. Who needs more than that?
After the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, when boaters abandoned the docks, sea lions just moved right in, and ultimately became a major San Francisco attraction. They even have their own “viewing platform” where the huge crowds of tourists can observe them from a safe distance.
You know, there’s something to be said for just taking a stand and sticking by it, isn’t there? Finding a place to make a statement. Certainly, huddling together with a huge number of other like-minded folks draws a crowd. And maybe - if we’re big, awkward, loud, and smelly enough – we can get our own “viewing platform,” too!
